NIA Smash is part of the Newton Group located in the rapidly developing Lusail area. This school is growing rapidly and we are looking for leaders who want to make a positive impact on the lives of our students and our community. NIA Smash has a very exciting opportunity to become part of the school’s senior leadership team. 


Founded in 2006, The Newton Group is the largest network of schools in Qatar. Our international schools deliver the British National Curriculum across all age groups. We are staffed by British and English speaking teachers who provide a caring educational environment for our local and expatriate students who come from a wide range of backgrounds. NIA Smash was founded in August 2020 and will have it's first Year 11 cohort from August 2022.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic school leader as Deputy Head of Secondary, with effect from August 2023.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an intelligent, ambitious, and energetic Secondary Leader, to impact and shape the delivery of international education at a high-quality education establishment.

Applicants should be committed and outstanding teaching practitioners, able to lead by example, possessing excellent teaching, organisational and communication skills. We are seeking individuals who can apply a committed and common-sense approach to primary education, such that it achieves outstanding results and happy children.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, playing a key role in the development and implementation of the school’s strategic plan and managing the academic and pastoral programmes of the Secondary School in line with the Vision, Mission and Values of the School.

The Deputy Head of Secondary is a senior figure in the school and as such should be an exemplary, and visible, role model for staff, students and parents.

The applicant should:  

  • be a progressive thinker with vision
  • possess exemplary teaching and leadership skills
  • display effective communication
  • be able to build a supportive and strong team ethic
  • be a dynamic innovator who will lead from the front
  • be able to use initiative, show flexibility and be adaptable
  • lead by example in professional matters
  • show organizational skills and leadership in behaviour, dress and speech
  • have British curriculum expertise (Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities)
  • have a proven track record of achieving strong results in iGCSE and A Level exams
  • have 3+ years’ of experience in the same role within British Curriculum schools


Responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

• Development of the Secondary curriculum (National curriculum for England in KS3 and Edexcel/Cambridge in KS4) 

• Conducting professional development training programme 

• Liaising with parents 

• Providing support to students with special needs and work in close contact with the AESN department 

• Supervising the safety and general welfare of students

• Lesson observation and performance appraisal 

• Providing a process of reporting regularly to parents on students’ academic and social development and ensuring all parents are aware of school’s procedures
