Cairo English School is one of the premier British International Schools in Egypt. We are an all through school from Early Years to Year 12 with over 2,000 students on roll. The school has outstanding facilities and is in New Cairo, which is about 10 minutes from Cairo Airport and 45 minutes from Downtown Cairo.

We are fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and we are also an authorised IB World School. Additionally, we are members of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME) British Schools Overseas (BSO) and European Council of International Schools (ECIS) organisations. Our curriculum follows the English National Curriculum, leading to IGCSE at the end of Year 10. After successfully completing IGCSE exams students can choose to take A Levels or the IB Diploma.

Cairo English School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Deputy Head of Secondary – Curriculum KS3 for August 2023. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of the school’s Guiding Statements and Values that strives to deliver a world class education. Cairo English School has a very friendly, supportive staff team and strong links with parents and the local community, all of whom have high standards and expectations.

Job Description:

  • The successful candidate will use achievement data to track and monitor student progress against targets and their starting points to ensure that all students achieve their full potential.
  •  The candidate will have a thorough approach to work scrutinies to ensure high standards of marking and feedback are maintained.
  • The candidate will monitor, with department head, class progression through the curriculum on a regular basis.
  • The successful candidate will also recognise the role of parents in shaping the lives of all young learners.
  • An understanding of what it takes to work with others and lead of the highest achieving schools in the country.
  • A track record of securing tangible success and outstanding outcomes.
  • Experience of developing a culture of learning and continuous improvement of staff and students.

Curriculum:

CES teaches the National Curriculum of England and Wales, applying the same educational standards as are offered in England, with modifications attuned to our Egyptian environment. Subjects offered at CES include; English, Mathematics, Science, Art & Design, Music, Geography, History, ICT, PE, Modern Foreign Languages, Design Technology and Personal Social Health Education. English is the language of instruction at CES. Ministry of Education Arabic, Religion and Social Studies are offered from Year 1 and French from Year 3.

CES initially opened from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 9. Year 10 opened in September 2007 and the school offers IGCSE at Year 9 and 10, , A Levels and IB Diploma Programme. is offered in Years 11 and 12 in preparation for university entrance within Egypt, United Kingdom and to other countries.

The curriculum is further enriched by the addition of a Learning Support programme, English as a Second Language and a comprehensive after school extra-curricular programme and a sports teams.

Cairo English School has the physical classroom space to accommodate up to 1800 students, with the building designed to house the students on three levels – Early Years on the ground floor. Primary School on the middle floor and Secondary School on the top floor.
