Job overview

Deputy Head, Pastoral

To start: September 2021 or January 2022

Bournemouth Collegiate School is a rapidly growing co-educational independent school situated on the south coast.  The School has extensive facilities, on two sites.  BCS provides a nurturing environment where the happiness of the pupils comes first.

BCS is seeking to appoint a committed and dedicated professional to significantly contribute to the leadership of the school.

As a Deputy Head, you will lead the Senior School’s pastoral and boarding provision, as well as acting as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Outstanding pastoral care is at the centre of everything we do, ensuring our young people are happy and safe, and ready to make the most of the opportunities we have to offer them to learn and grow as individuals.

We want to hear from talented senior leaders looking to extend their experience, and ambitious middle leaders seeking their first senior leadership post.  You will be highly motivated and passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people with the natural ability to inspire and motivate both pupils and peers.

As an outstanding teacher with demonstrable leadership experience, you will make a significant contribution to the leadership and success of our school.

You will have a proven track record and be able to evidence successful strategies used for strategic leadership of pastoral care and behaviour, and leadership of staff.

The post will require a resilient and dynamic individual, who will bring considerable passion and high levels of energy to the role.

The success of our school is built on the foundation of strong relationships and an ethos of support and care that underpins all that we do.

Accommodation may be available if required.

BCS is a co-educational independent school on the south coast. The school has extensive facilities across two sites; BCS Senior (day and boarding, 11-18) is situated in excellent grounds in Southbourne, Bournemouth and BCS Prep (day, 2-11) is in spacious accommodation in Lower Parkstone, Poole. There are currently approximately 630 pupils on roll.

BCS provides a nurturing environment where the happiness of the pupils comes first.

We have developed the 4Cs of BCS; creativity, curiosity, commitment and community and through our broad and dynamic curriculum we believe we equip, challenge and develop pupils in all these important areas.

Our added value also extends to the significant number of co-curricular opportunities offered to pupils, which help to instil and develop the skills we want our daughters and sons to have as they grow up. Consequently, BCS pupils leave the School as well-balanced, confident and versatile young people.

We want to inspire each pupil to make the most of the talents they have. This way the pupils at BCS, of any age, grow in self-esteem, develop resilience, have a sense of fun and adventure and are equipped to flourish as young adults.
