Applications are warmly invited for a dynamic and inspirational Deputy Head Teacher. Mountjoy School has 51 fabulous pupils all of whom are aged between 2.5-19 years with severe, profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex needs. Mountjoy is a "Good" school well on the way to becoming Outstanding. 

We are looking for a Deputy that shares our ambition and commitment to becoming Outstanding.

  • Able to apply a high level of understanding of the needs of our pupils, the appropriate strategies to meet these needs and lead others in understanding and implementing effective techniques;
  • Able to have an eye for detail whilst maintaining awareness of the ‘big picture’;
  • Highly self-reflective, able to lead in specific areas and committed to continual improvement;
  • Determined to achieve the best for pupils by motivating and empowering staff using high levels of emotional intelligence;
  • Able to take collective responsibility and work within clear lines of communication and professionalism;
  • Able to have ‘difficult conversations’ with staff when necessary in order to move forward and achieve optimised outcomes for pupils;
  • Able to appreciate a multitude of competing pressures, evaluate and then prioritise to achieve maximum positive impact for pupils;
  • Determined to work collaboratively, ensuring that the opportunities are provided for inclusion, outreach, inreach and shared learning;
  • Able to synthesise, support and promote a change agenda at school, local and national level?

There will be an expectation of a teaching commitment of two days per week.

We have very supportive Governors and parent/carers who provide encouragement and expertise to strengthen the ethos of the school.
