About you

As the Deputy Head Teacher of COLPAI, you will be an exceptional, inspiring and dedicated school leader with a strong track record of excellence, who plays a vital role in the strategic leadership of COLPAI. You will work with commitment and dedication, alongside the Head Teacher in defining, articulating and implementing the shared vision and values of the school and the COLA Trust, through effective communication and engagement with the whole school community. You will have strong organisational skills enabling you to take an effective lead on organising the day to day running of the school, for example, timetabling, teaching cover, schedules and rotas. You will demonstrate outstanding leadership skills working with the Head Teacher on the implementation of the strategic direction of the school to achieve and meet its ambitious goals for pupils’ academic, social, emotional and personal achievement and wellbeing. As a dynamic, inspirational practitioner, you will play a major part in promoting and securing outstanding classroom practice across the school. As an exemplary subject leader for English, you will secure and further enhance outstanding provision for all pupils in reading, writing, early literacy, phonics and oracy. Through effective monitoring and feedback, you will ensure that the learning and teaching provided by different curriculum areas and teaching teams form a co-ordinated, coherent curriculum which achieves the best possible outcomes for all. You will ensure that information on student progress and attainment is used to strategically to improve teaching and learning; to inform and motivate pupils; to inform parents; and to aid SLT and governors in the future management of the school. You will take a leading role in whole school data analysis to determine how well the school is performing and assist with target setting as appropriate. You will be passionate about sustaining and further shaping a positive and highly successful culture and fostering an environment where every child flourishes and thrives academically, socially, emotionally and personally. You will play a key role in sustaining excellent behaviour and supporting pupils pastorally ensuring a strict but very warm and nurturing environment.

City of London Primary Academy Islington (COLPAI) was opened in September 2017. We are located in a brand new, purpose-built school in the heart of the City of London.
