Newham PRUs Management Committee is seeking to appoint an experienced and dynamic Deputy Headteacher to lead curriculum and assessment across the school. If you possess a clear vision and understanding of working with a range of vulnerable learners and are enthusiastic, resilient and resourceful with proven success in this field, then we would love you to join our school. Tunmarsh School is a Complex Pupil Referral Unit located in the London Borough of Newham. The school offers a range of educational programmes for young people who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, those at risk of permanent exclusion and those who are vulnerable or have medical needs. Our aim is to work to remove barriers to learning through an individualised response to our pupils’ needs. The post holder will be operational head of school for Outreach, VLE and Coborn Unit education provisions.

You will be expected to demonstrate:

  • Excellent school leadership and management skills.
  • The ability to think strategically, establish and communicate a clear vision and develop whole school priorities in response to both local and national agendas.
  • Knowledge and experience of leading whole school developments relating to teaching and learning and self-evaluation.
  • Evidence of raising attainment and standards.

You will also have significant experience of implementing successful strategies for the management of pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Newham PRU is a well-established and successful pupil referral unit providing education for students who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and those who are vulnerable or have medical needs. At Tunmarsh school we offer on-site provision for KS3 and KS4.  New Directions PRU offers on-site provision for KS4 students who wish to access a more vocational and applied skills based education programme. We also work with students on ward at Newham University Hospital, Coborn and in the homes of students who, due to illness are unable to attend school.
