Bootham is a very different kind of school.
Take a look at our recruitment brochure where we seek to explain a little of the culture which nurtures this distinct and infectious difference.
We have resolved to become recognised as a school pioneering the most adventurous and liberating education in the UK.
Bootham demands much more of its students than the high academic results they achieve: it seeks to educate its students ‘to envisage a better world, and to acquire the skills and confidence to deliver change’. It challenges its staff to model that ‘better world’ in the way they work together.
In September 2017 our new Deputy Head will take over from Suzanne Hall, who is taking early retirement from July. They will work closely with the Head, Chris Jeffery, and governors, to help write the next chapter in the story of this most colourful and progressive school.
People with many different talents and personal attributes make excellent Deputy Heads. In the case of Bootham it is likely the successful candidate will combine strong leadership and personal character with an active sympathy for liberal educational and Quaker values, and a desire to work in delightful surroundings in the heart of the beautiful city of York. The salary range is between £62,366 and £71,240 depending on skills and experience, with annual incremental progression dependent on satisfactory performance.
See our recruitment brochure for fuller details, including the application process.
