Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic and creative DHT who can work collaboratively creating, developing and maintaining an outstanding school.

The successful candidate will have the knowledge and capability to co-create, embed and develop the School’s vision and values; they will be able to provide outstanding leadership whilst promoting exceptional standards through the Quality of Education. The successful candidate will have a commitment to ensuring pupil progress; to promoting and securing the highest standards of Behaviour, Attitudes and Attendance, including through an engaging curriculum; to engaging pupils and staff in developing their wellbeing and will have an unwavering dedication to safeguarding children.

Acre View Primary School will be a new establishment situated in the village of Lydiate. The school will cater for up to 48 primary aged children (5-11) with a range of complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We aim to support pupils with social and communication difficulties; Autistic Spectrum Condition; ADHD; PDA; related learning and emotional, sensory and motor needs, across a range of cognitive abilities and SEMH. Each child will have an EHCP.

Based in a repurposed, modern building, we are investing in a purposeful, effective learning

environment with outstanding resources which will support children. The School will be run by the charity, West Kirby Residential School, which has a secure and strong commitment to providing the very best education within a supportive and caring environment in its existing outstanding school (West Kirby School and College).

The successful candidate will join a new Head Teacher in growing a highly effective staff team. They will be supported in setting up and developing the school by the strong and effective SLT and the CEO/Principal of West Kirby School and College. The aim is for the School to open to pupils in February 2024, with the Head Teacher starting in September 2023 and the Deputy Head Teacher starting in January 2024, or sooner.

You will be organised and efficient, with a balanced outlook towards workload. Staff wellbeing is important to us and we expect our leadership team to role model effective time management and self-care. However, we do not expect this to impinge on the necessity of finding the time to interact with, and support, staff and pupils. We are seeking a well-rounded individual who finds school leadership rewarding and who likes children. You will be part of a close-knit team.

You will have leadership experience in a special or mainstream establishment(s) and you will know, understand and will have worked across sections of the inspection framework. Children will come first for you and you will have a proven track record of enabling pupil progress.
