As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teacher to join our close-knit team at Acorn Park in Banham, Norwich. Acorn Park is an independent, specialist day and residential school located in Banham, Norwich over a 30-acre estate. Acorn Park caters for children and young people aged 6 – 19 years who have communication and learning challenges associated with Autism.  We are a fully integrated community made up of a range of professionals from different backgrounds employed to meet the diverse needs of the young people and families that we support. A place at Acorn Park Autism School ensures that a young person’s life becomes worthwhile, however mild or profound their autism, we have a range of facilities which support the way that children learn, socialise and play together. Our wrap around care and teaching approach enhances our children’s lives, making them as independent as they are able to be, and having a positive impact on the whole family.

Acorn Park is part of the Acorn Care and Education Group, the second largest private sector provider of special needs education in the country operating 17 schools for children and young people who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.


About the role

The team at Acorn Park School are passionate about making the school a special place that pupils enjoy coming to every single day. We have an opportunity for a new Deputy Headteacher to help provide inspirational and motivational leadership across the school.

As Deputy Headteacher, you will promote a relentless focus on the quality of education and delivery of a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that meets the needs of children and young people and produces positive outcomes.

Working with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure the school has effective management and the required team capability to further develop and continually improve. You will be joining an experienced and committed staff team and will have the opportunity to help set the direction of our successful school that is unique in its region.

We are looking to hear from dynamic and passionate individuals with experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. We are looking for someone who knows how to bring a creative and innovative approach to improving performance and support for our pupils and their families. An excellent communicator, you will act as an ambassador for Acorn Park School, and will have demonstrable experience of working in partnership with parents, local authorities and other stakeholders. If you are a truly inspirational, highly motivated and forward thinking leader, with the energy and passion to change lives coupled with proven experience of whole school development and improvement, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

We enjoy frequent trips to local villages & the zoo, and regularly enjoy activities around Thetford Forest and at the seaside towns around East Anglia.
