Job overview

Chilwell Croft Academy is seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher who is capable of all aspects of school management and passionate about overall improvement. The successful candidate will be an exemplary classroom practitioner, capable of demonstrating creative and innovative practice and able to work in partnership, leading and communicating effectively with children, parents, staff and Trustees.

Equitas Academies Trust was formed in September 2012 and incorporates Aston Manor Academy (Secondary) and Chilwell Croft Academy (Primary). Both Academies are happy, exciting and inspiring learning environments for their children who are from a vibrant mix of cultures. The staff and Trustees have a great sense of pride in their schools and care passionately about the pupils they serve.

During a recent Ofsted inspection Chilwell Croft Academy was judged as a school requiring improvement but leadership and management and pupil behaviour were rated as good (October 2016). The Academy has been on an extremely rewarding journey over the last 18 months and is moving in the right direction; however Mathematics is an area that needs to be developed. Therefore the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and ambition for the school and have a proven track record of leading on school improvement. They will be able to take the lead on assessment/data analysis and curriculum development in order to contribute further to strategic planning. The successful candidate will work alongside the Headteacher and other senior leaders to help transform Chilwell Croft into an ‘outstanding’ school of the future.

The right candidate will be able to demonstrate what they have so far achieved in their career and how they can help to move the Academy forward. The achievements of the individual will be taken into account rather than the length of time that they have been teaching.

In return, we can offer

  • Excellent students and staff who will enthuse and inspire the successful candidate
  • A commitment to CPD opportunities
  • Employee wellbeing benefits

Informal visits to the Academy are most welcome.

Arrangements can be made through Joanne Kyte, Headteacher’s PA, on 0121 464 3322.

All Different, All Equal, All Achieving

Chilwell Croft Academy is a very happy and improving school for children aged four to eleven.  The school currently has children on roll representing over 30 nationalities, speaking 40 different languages.     We are proud to be part of a multicultural community, and actively celebrate the diversity of our school.

Our aim is to provide an environment where children can make progress academically and develop personally. Everything we do is focused on this.

We spend a lot of time and effort developing the culture of our school. The physical environment is welcoming and orderly – our artist in residence works with children to show off their art skills and this is exhibited throughout the school. Our pupils learn to behave, have a good attitude to learning and respect each other. Every pupil has a planner and is a member of a house team in order to help them do this. Pupils take pride in their work as evidenced by the presentation in their books. They value our rewards system and say they feel safe in school.

Developing the highest quality teaching lies at the heart of our school improvement agenda. We celebrate success and share good practice whenever we can.     We are very proud of our pupils and their families. Here, every child is truly valued for his or her contribution and encouraged to grow in confidence. A real strength of our school are the very positive relationships between staff and pupils and within peer groups.

You are more than welcome to come and visit us at any time, arrangements can be made by contacting the school on 0121 464 3402
