The Link Secondary School caters for pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties, many of whom are on the autistic spectrum.   

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and inspiring Deputy Headteacher, Curriculum and Assessment, with a successful track record in working with children with a wide range of educational needs to join the Head and Deputy Head, Pastoral Care, along with the Therapy and Inclusion Leaders, to form the Schools Senior Leadership team. 

The post holder will have a key role for developing the skills of our pupils within curriculum and assessment and will work alongside our therapists and multi-disciplinary teams within the school to meet these needs. We offer a supportive learning environment for all and a cohesive team ethos. 

The Deputy Head, Curriculum and Assessment will work closely with the Deputy Head, Pastoral Care to ensure a consistent approach to education and well being in all areas of the school’s work. In addition to deputising for the Head Teacher as required and fulfilling a variable teaching role, the Deputy Head will contribute substantially to the overall development and strategic planning of the School including: 

Taking management responsibility for:

  • Development of the curriculum across the school
  • Ensuring  consistency of approach in all school wide teaching and learning styles
  • Ensuring  progression and consistency in curriculum development 
  • Maximising pupil progress through setting high standards and by promoting effective teaching and learning
  • Enhancing understanding of how to use data for assessment to drive the school forward
  • Bringing creativity and innovation to developing a curriculum that meets individual needs and be able to oversee the development of provision that gives flexibility across key stages and subjects.
  • Ensuring adequate training and development opportunities are available to staff
  • Ensuring the Health, Safety and Well-being of staff and pupils
  • Ensuring  consistent and effective communication with parents, professionals and external agencies
