Job overview

The position of Deputy Headteacher at Colindale Primary School is wide ranging and will challenge you to be the best you can possibly be across a range of skills. As an inspirational leader you will ensure a safe, calm and well-ordered environment for all pupils and staff where the focus is on safeguarding pupils while developing their exemplary behaviour at school and in the wider society.

You will promote excellence and support the Headteacher and Assistant Headteachers in producing and continually updating the strategic school development plan. You will inspire and influence others within and beyond the school to believe in the fundamental importance of education in young people's lives.

Our school is a large three-form entry, multi-cultural primary school in the heart of Colindale in North London, with a Nursery and an additional resource base for pupils with physical disabilities.

Our modern and inspired school building and grounds reflect our ambition to work creatively to build a better future for all our pupils, our parents, our staff and the local community

Our children are well behaved, polite and respectful towards each other and members of staff. Motivated in their learning, they have high aspirations and good relationships which make them fantastic ambassadors for our school.

Our parents are consistently supportive and keen to work with the school to both enhance their children's learning and achievement as well as ensure the school provides a positive focal point for the local community.

Our staff benefit from our strong emphasis on professional development, shared leadership and an innovative approach to all that we do.

We are committed to protecting and promoting children’s rights and our commitment to this has been recognised by UNICEF in their Rights Respecting School Award. Our Rainbow values are at the heart of who we are and create a positive environment in which both children and staff strive to be the very best they can be.

We are blessed with first class facilities throughout the school and among the many employee benefits available to the staff of Colindale Primary School is the use of our own indoor swimming pool

About Colindale Primary School

A warm welcome to Colindale School – a very special community – a place where we believe that our core purpose is to develop lifelong learners and transform lives.

We all work hard to provide a safe, happy and responsible environment in which everyone can learn, flourish, reach their potential, and be valued as an individual. Our school is a place where we share and celebrate our cultures, languages and faiths in harmony with each other.  We have children from many different cultures speaking over 40 different languages.

When children leave Colindale School, we want them to do so with confidence and with an awareness and understanding of the world so that they can work positively towards a better future for all. To achieve this for our children staff work closely in partnership, offering support and challenge to each other. We also work closely with Parents and Carers.

Throughout the year there are regular meetings with parents to exchange information.  There are also other opportunities such as sports days and assemblies for them to be involved in their child’s education.  We want to make the most of these opportunities to build good relationships and partnerships between parents and the school.

Please come and see for yourself what Colindale Primary School has to offer children.  Like other visitors you will notice the warmth, the calm working atmosphere, the skilled teaching designed to meet the needs of every individual child and the friendly confidence of the children as they learn in a stimulating and caring environment.
