Job overview

SMART (South-East Cornwall Multi-Academy Regional Trust) is looking for an exceptional Deputy Head to work across the Trust leading school improvement. You will be based at saltash.net and in the first phase will drive change in this setting. In the longer-term, you will be Deputy Head at saltash.net four days each week and will work MAT-wide for one day each week (or flexibly as required).

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader, with a proven track record of successful change-management, to drive improvements across our secondary schools. Our Trust comprises saltash.net, Liskeard and Looe secondary schools and Dobwalls, Landulph and Trewidland primaries (www.SMART-Trust.net).

At saltash.net we are at an exciting phase of our improvement journey. Our new Headteacher started in January 2017 and our two-school MAT expanded in April 2017. Having now prepared the ground and sown the seeds, we are looking for a great leader to help us burgeon and flourish!

We welcome visits from prospective applicants.

Closing date: Monday, 16th April 2018.
Interviews: Wednesday, 25th and Thursday, 26th April 2018.

About Saltash Community School

OVERVIEW

The school is a mixed 11 to 18 comprehensive school established in its present form in 1968. The school converted to Academy Status in April 2011, and became part of a Multi Academy Trust (SMART) with one of its partner primaries, Landulph, in January 2014. The SMART family expanded in 2016 to include Liskeard and Looe Secondaries along with Dobwalls and Trewidland Primaries. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it occupies a 13 acre site overlooking Plymouth Sound and the Tamar, Tavy and Lynher rivers.

We serve our partner primary schools in the town, the rural primary schools at Landulph and St Germans as well as an increasing number of students from Plymouth and further afield in Cornwall.

We are proud of our livestock area containing pigs, rabbits, ducks, chickens and goats along with several allotments which enhance provision in many curriculum areas.

Our extensive sports fields, including a superb floodlit all-weather pitch, are amongst the best in the county, enabling us to offer a wide range of different sports to our students and local community.
