Job overview

Blue Coat is a successful and oversubscribed school in the heart of the city of Coventry.  As a Christian school our intake draws from both the local area and across the city and surrounding areas.  Consequently we have a diverse intake and a culturally thriving school.  The school was graded ‘Outstanding’ in its recent SIAMS inspection and ‘Good’ by Ofsted in June 2016 and continues to perform exceptionally well academically.  Our average grade at GCSE is 53.69 and our Progress 8 score is +0.31.  The vast majority of our students stay on into the sixth form and continue their studies.

At Blue Coat Church of England School, our vision is “Living life in all its fullness”. We exist to equip our students to live life in all its fullness by providing excellent education which is distinctively Christian and inclusive of all. At the heart of this education are the values of Care, Hard Work, Respect, Integrity and Servanthood, working Together for the good of all individuals, the school and wider communities.

We have a large and successful Post 16 provision with over 300 pupils studying either A levels or Vocational courses.  We are consistently in the top performing sixth forms in the city and we have excellent rates of progression to universities, apprenticeships and employment.

Thank you for expressing an interest in the Deputy Headteacher post. You are considering joining the school at an exciting time as we strive to provide an outstanding education for every young person. The appointment we make will be central to driving school improvement and will offer an excellent opportunity to progress to Headship. The role has become available due to the retirement of the current Deputy Headteacher. You will be joining a hardworking and dedicated team of support staff, teachers and senior leaders. We believe that every child can succeed regardless of background or start point and expect the same commitment from all who work with us.

Blue Coat is currently in the process of transferring into the Inspire Multi Academy Trust, a high performing Coventry based Trust with a strong record of success.  The post-holder will be instrumental in the strategic development of the Trust moving forward.

We are looking for an experienced senior leader who will complement the existing team but also add challenge and new ideas. This post would suit a highly experienced Assistant Headteacher or a current Deputy Headteacher looking for progression to Headship.  Blue Coat School is a fantastic, supportive place to work and learn and I look forward to receiving your application should you choose to apply.
