Job overview

Give our students the aspiration to succeed.

Having converted to academy status at the heart of L.E.A.D. Academy Trust in April 2017, we are a successful secondary school with just over 550 students. Our pupils are at the centre of everything we do: we have built a close-knit community where students and staff alike can really shine, and we have forged productive links with partners, including University of Derby, the arts centre QUAD and major local employer Toyota. What’s more, L.E.A.D. Academy Trust was described by Ofsted’s Chief Inspector Sir Michael Wilshaw as a “high performer” and has some very ambitious plans for the future – so this is an exciting time to join us and accelerate our improvement journey.

Providing inspiring and imaginative leadership to the Academy, you’ll set the highest standards in teaching, learning and personal conduct. Your remit will extend across academic achievement, finances, resources and administration, and you’ll go the extra mile to involve parents, carers and the community in everything we do. In short, you’ll be a powerful catalyst for change and will build on our significant success to date – so we need someone exceptional.

A qualified teacher and seasoned school leader with evidence of impact across whole school and proven outcomes from excellent  teaching and learning. Equally, you’ll be a truly collaborative practitioner who values the contribution of every team member, sets exciting and achievable goals, and genuinely leads by example. Quite simply, you’ll go the extra mile to give our students the inner confidence and self-belief to succeed – enabling them to overcome disadvantage and becoming one of the most important influences in their lives.

"One Team, Changing Worlds."

Having converted to academy status at the heart of the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust in May 2017, Da Vinci Academy is now a successful secondary school with around 700 students and an increasing school roll (oversubscribed in KS3 and also next year’s intake). In summer 2019, we were proud to be the most improved Progress 8 school in Derby and in October 2021, we were rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.

“The school is inclusive and welcoming to all. Pupils feel valued and cared for.” - Ofsted, October 2021

We are described as a ‘proudly inclusive school with a big heart and huge ambition’. A student-centred philosophy is supported by an unwavering commitment to the achievement of successful outcomes for each and every young person.

Together with the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust, a strong and clear vision is in place - One Team, Changing Worlds. Our vision is achieved by supporting all to Aspire, Believe, Learn, Achieve. This is what we all firmly believe in and strive for at all times. The benefit of our close-knit academy community is a real team environment where people genuinely care for each other and where students and staff alike can really shine.

Through exceptional teaching, outstanding leadership and the highest quality pastoral care, we want our students to feel safe, to feel supported and to realise their potential. In this way, we therefore prepare them for entrance to higher education, high quality employment and future careers of their choice.
