Values and vision
John Betts Primary School aims to develop confident pupils ready to embrace the opportunities of secondary education and beyond. Teachers aim to ensure every pupil becomes skilled and competent in language and maths, placing particular emphasis on the importance of reading. Children are taught to understand the world more broadly, harness their creativity and appreciate human achievements.
Pupils are introduced to new ideas as well as established concepts, skills and knowledge. John Betts encourages them to think rationally, logically, and to question. The school emphasises the importance of respecting others’ values and of being cooperative, polite and considerate. It aims to achieve these objectives through skilled teaching in a friendly, stimulating and nurturing environment.
Ofsted report
“John Betts is an outstanding school, where pupils make great strides, both academically and in their personal and social development. Many pupils spoke highly of the school during the inspection. They are particularly enthusiastic about the recently-introduced school council and think there should be more opportunities for them to exercise responsibility of this nature. Their positive views are shared by many of their parents."
