The Governors and Headteacher of Falconer School are seeking to appoint a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic Deputy Headteacher. The successful applicant will work with the Headteacher to support and develop initiatives to drive forward continuous school improvement. The post holder will play a key role in the senior management team of the school and will be part of the safeguarding team for the school. Candidates need to hold QTS and a proven track record of high quality teaching, learning and assessment and working with effective multi-disciplinary partnerships. We are keen to hear from enthusiastic, experienced and well qualified leaders with expertise in supporting students with SEMH. Knowledge of successful strategies for meeting the needs of our young people is essential. We pride ourselves on the quality of teaching and learning and outcomes of all our students. This was validated in out Ofsted inspection of June 2016. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our enthusiastic and dedicated staff and further develop our innovative curriculum that totally promotes the ethos of inclusion – particularly in devising creative alternatives for those students who might struggle with the curriculum that is on offer. The post will suit professional individuals who are prepared to work flexibly in a vibrant, caring and supportive environment. Falconer School is a Secondary day / residential school for boys with statements of Social, Emotional and Mental Health and was rated good by Ofsted at the last inspection in 2016. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our dedicated Residential team work closely with all of the boarders, running fun and enriching activities every evening as well as working 1:1 with their dedicated key boarders. We have numerous activities during the evenings running from football, handball and street hockey to quasar, cinema trips, climbing, archery, potholing and Art. We also offer a life skills programme designed to help each boarder to be able to wash, clean, cook, live to a budget, use public transport and work in the community. Our boarders thrive in a stimulating, safe and rewarding environment that reflects the ethos of the school. We aim to help all our boarders to be able to leave our provision with a vast array of knowledge. School House offers up to 8 full time residential places alongside which we offer an extended day programme which provides the opportunity for even more members of the school community to stay after school for activities.
