Job overview

Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is looking to appoint an exceptional, experienced and talented leader as Deputy Headteacher, to join our highly effective Leadership Team.

We are a friendly school, and passionately believe that every student matters. You will build excellent relationships with students and enjoy working alongside them and their families in order to ensure that they succeed academically and grow personally. You should genuinely revel in working with young people.

Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is a thriving community school with a healthy and open attitude to progress and change.  The school is at an exciting stage of development, with new buildings and sports facilities, increasing numbers in all years, and a sixth form of some 300 students. Our community provides a purposeful learning environment for both students and staff, stressing the importance of creativity, independence, resilience, celebration and empathy. Our greatest assets are our students and staff.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will have an outstanding track record in educational leadership with proven success and demonstrable impact. You are able to think strategically, analytically and creatively about learning and teaching and have the personal authority and communication skills to make a difference. You have vision, imagination and commitment to be part of a team that takes the school to ‘outstanding’ and beyond. You must enjoy working with young people, colleagues and parents and be committed to the continuous improvement of people and systems, always willing to go that extra mile.

You are a committed team player, polite and respectful to others, someone who understands the importance of strong and supportive working relationships. You are open to new ideas, you are positive, solutions focused and committed to your own personal continuous development. Of course you are resilient and have a great sense of humour, as you never give up.

Our successful candidate will have responsibility for a number of key strategic whole school areas as well as leading effectively the full range of day-to-day operational duties. Candidates must already hold a Senior Management post of Assistant or Deputy Headteacher with demonstrable capacity to drive continued, rapid school improvement, lead staff and have clear impact on student outcomes. The post will carry specific responsibilities in a variety of areas that will benefit the team and the school; these will be discussed with candidates during the interview process. This post will provide an ideal opportunity for preparation for Headship.
