Thomas Coram is a maintained nursery school, situated in the heart of Bloomsbury in the London borough of Camden. The school has been consistently rated as outstanding and has a long history of being at the cutting edge of early year's education in England. We pride ourselves in providing an exciting, stimulating and play-based learning environment for up to 140 children aged 2-4 years old.
Our ideal candidate will have :
At least three years teaching experience working with young children (including children from two to five years old).
Experience of working in a school-based middle or senior leadership role.
A thorough understanding of the importance of child-centred, play-based learning.
A sound understanding of the Special Needs Code of Practice and current experience of successfully implementing it in an early years setting.
A clear understanding of the needs of children from ehtnic minorities and different social backgrounds.
The ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
The ability to work under pressure with energy and enthusiasm.

The position is currently non-class based, although there will be some teaching commitment.
Thomas Coram Centre and Nursery School is open from 8.00-5.30 each weekday for 48 weeks of the year and takes children from two to five years. This post involves working 215 days throughout the year taking some holidays flexibly.
