Job overview

Giffard Park Primary School is an established two form entry, mixed primary school with 365 pupils on roll, serving the communities of Giffard Park and surrounding areas to the north of Milton Keynes. We place a high emphasis on the ‘traditional values’ of manners, good behaviour and excellent communication skills, as well as helping the children to develop the skills needed for the 21st century such as Computing.

We pride ourselves on developing hard-working, resilient children who aspire to be the best they can be. All our children benefit from a well-balanced, immersive curriculum that allows them to succeed. We have two core values that underpin our schools approach – our SMART learners system motivates our children to behave well in school and our growth mindset philosophy develops the children’s resilience to embrace challenges and try new pursuits.

In March 2016, OFSTED reported that Giffard Park has ‘extremely effective’ leaders who have transformed the quality of education’. Pupils ‘behave well, enjoy school and have very positive relationships with each other’ and our teachers ‘form a very effective team’. We are now seeking to appoint an exceptional leader to work in partnership with our Headteacher to build on the existing success of the school and lead the school into its next chapter.

The ideal candidate will also:

  • Provide inspirational and motivational leadership across the school.
  • Maintain a focus on improving the quality and consistency of teaching and learning,
  • assessment and feedback.
  • Prioritise closing the gap for disadvantaged pupils and raising achievement with particular
  • emphasis on KS1.
  • Promote the school’s inclusive ethos and develop innovative ways to engage with parents and stakeholders to position the school at the heart of its community.
  • Have outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate an exceptional work ethic.

You should be an inspirational leader with a strong commitment to raising attainment and taking our school on its journey from Good to Outstanding. You will combine a vision and energy for children’s education with the focus and drive needed for whole school management. Committed to excellence and dedicated to lifelong learning, you have the ambition, skills and energy to provide for every child within our school.

In return for your energy, integrity and enthusiasm, we offer you the opportunity to be part of the Senior Leadership Team working alongside our excellent teachers, a committed Governing Body and fantastic children who are all keen to learn. This is an opportunity to have a real impact on a school that is well placed to move beyond immediate challenges and become a truly outstanding institution.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Visits are scheduled for the afternoons of Tuesday 26th, Wednesday 27th, Friday 29th of September and Tuesday 3rd October 2017. For a visit outside of these times please contact Vanessa Ford, Business Manager: sbm@giffardpark.milton-keynes.sch.uk

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, a pre-employment health check and an enhanced DBS check.
