Mossbourne Port Side Academy (MPSA)

Mossbourne Port Side Academy is a secondary school located in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex. It offers a curriculum for students aged 11 to 16, focusing on academic achievement, personal development, and preparing students for future success.

At MPSA, we offer a rich curriculum emphasising core academic subjects, whilst providing the facilities, time and specialist staff to ensure students develop across a range of subjects. MPSA offers a range of enrichment opportunities to our students, leaving them equipped not only for further education and employment but also ready to make a meaningful contribution to society and bring about positive change in their communities.

MPSA is committed to ensuring that all students build the knowledge, character, and qualifications that will open the doors to the future they dream of. Our students leave prepared to make a meaningful impact on the world and bring positive change to their communities.

MPSA has recently entered an exciting new chapter in joining the Mossbourne Federation - an organisation known for its exceptionally high standards, where students consistently achieve some of the best outcomes in the country. This is a thrilling time for our academy, offering us a fantastic opportunity to grow, evolve, and thrive as we continue our mission to provide our students with the outstanding education they deserve.

The Mossbourne Federation

The Mossbourne Federation is a thriving network of Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form academies providing the children of Hackney and Thurrock with an outstanding education from Early Years to Post-16. We deliver the highest quality of teaching and learning across a broad curriculum, underpinned by high expectations for every student and by our Federation values of: ‘Excellence’, ‘No Excuses’ and ‘Unity’. Our staff strive towards a common goal: being the best we can be, ensuring every pupil, every teacher, and every member of staff, fulfils their potential. We value continuous improvement, are always learning, and we are always looking for a better way to do things. We are a supportive family that shares experiences, knowledge, and ideas in an environment that welcomes input and challenge.

Mossbourne Federation staff know diversity fosters creativity and innovation. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where all belong. We do not discriminate in recruitment or during employment based on any protected characteristic or aspect of individual identity. We have committed to being an Anti-Racist organisation and we welcome individuals with the ethos and energy to help us achieve this goal. We actively reject discrimination in our academies through continuous review of our working policies and practices across the federation, including at board level. We are committed to developing and supporting inclusivity, diversity, and anti-racism in every facet of what we do.

The Mossbourne Ethos

The Mossbourne Federation is the realisation of Sir Clive Bourne’s dream to provide the children of Hackney with an outstanding education. Since 2004, the Federation has nurtured Sir Clive’s dream by fostering kind, courteous, hard-working, and well-rounded learners by providing an outstanding education based on the core values of ‘Excellence’, ‘No Excuses’ and ‘Unity’. Through upholding these core values, Mossbourne’s London schools have built a reputation for being, without exception, exceptional.

We are delighted that on 1st January 2025, Mossbourne expanded to include three new academies in Thurrock, Essex.

The Federation’s calm working atmosphere creates well-rounded individuals who excel in the arts, on the sporting field and academically. All learners, regardless of ability, benefit from the innovative and enlightened approaches to teaching and learning within The Mossbourne Federation.
