Job overview

The Role

Cavendish Education are seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to join our new school (Abingdon House School, Purley) opening in 2023.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to have a significant and long lasting impact on a new school. The post holder will contribute towards the development of a vision and will play a pivotal role in creating a culture in which staff and students can thrive.

Prior to a full school opening, the successful candidate will be instrumental in developing effective systems, policies and procedures and a broad and balanced curriculum offer. The post holder will have the opportunity to help build a team that they believe will deliver the quality service we are striving for. On opening the post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of the school and the pastoral care of the students.

In return, we can offer:

Access to the Cavendish Pension Scheme, a school laptop, a free lunch (once the school opens to students), access to an Employee Assistance Programme, a commitment to effective CPD and a staff well-being programme.

Our School

Abingdon House School, Purley will be joining the Cavendish Education family as a day school supporting cognitively able pupils with a range of additional needs. We will be delivering an ambitious curriculum working towards GCSEs and equivalents. Teaching and therapeutic support will be focused on overcoming the barriers to learning that individual students have. Abingdon House School & College already has two existing and successful sites in London; we will be in the fortunate position to be able to draw upon existing expertise within Abingdon House School & College and the wider Cavendish Education group.

About Cavendish Education

At the heart of Cavendish Education is a commitment to enabling all our students to thrive – when they are with us and after they leave us. All the activities on our curriculum aim to instil four core attributes; we believe these are key contributors to student wellbeing and success.

  • Confidence,
  • Competence,
  • Creativity,
  • Character.
