Deputy Headteacher

Quality of Education (L18-L22)

Bowland High is an outstanding school located in the heart of the Ribble Valley. It is part of the Achievement through Collaboration Trust - an ambitious and supportive Trust, where children come first and are at the heart of all we do.

We wish to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and talented leader to the post of Deputy Headteacher, Quality of Education. This appointment follows the promotion to Headship of the Deputy Headteacher.

As Deputy Headteacher you will be responsible for ensuring teaching and learning is at the heart of everything we do in order to achieve the best education for our pupils. You will be an outstanding practitioner, with a passion for developing impactful and evidence based teaching and learning practices, coupled with the expertise to lead and coach others to achieve the best for all pupils through quality teaching. You will lead on the strategic planning, management and development of a creative and forward thinking curriculum, ensuring that it delivers the aspirations and qualifications to enable all pupils to achieve, thrive and enjoy their time at the school.

In return, we can offer you excellent support and development within an ambitious school and trust with a cohort of amazing pupils who are ready to learn and be challenged. We have a dedicated and forward thinking leadership team within a friendly and supportive school.

As Deputy Headteacher, you will work closely with other members of the leadership team, all of whom are passionate about giving our pupils the knowledge, skills and experiences that will ensure they are ready for the next stages of their education/lives.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an ambitious, dedicated and inspirational professional with a collaborative approach to join our school and make a difference to the lives of our pupils and the community we serve.

Visits to the school will be available by appointment on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th April.

Alternative dates and times would be available and of course we would encourage you to apply even if you are unable to visit.

Please email Janet Sharpe at jsharpe@bowlandhigh.lancs.sch.uk if you wish to visit.

Closing date:     Friday 7th May at 12.00pm.

Interviews:          week beginning 17th May 2021.

Values and vision

Bowland High believes that because it is a small school, it is much easier for staff to get to know all pupils. The whole school community is able to understand the specific needs and interests of individual students and to monitor their progress. The secondary school aims for its pupils to thrive in a secure environment, where students learn from each other as well as from their teachers.

Bowland High prides itself on being a school founded on mutual respect and responsibility, with high standards of behaviour. It considers itself to be forward-looking, but it is also proud of and true to its heritage.

Ofsted report

“All pupils progress to further education, employment or training as a result of exceptional careers advice and guidance. Staff give wholehearted support to pupils to enable their transition to the next stage of their lives. Pupils are taught to respect people from other backgrounds and to treat people fairly. They are actively encouraged to make a positive contribution to society. As a result, they are exceptionally well prepared for life in modern Britain. Staff training programmes encourage staff to be reflective practitioners, always looking to further improve.”
