Directors of Carmel Education Trust and the Local Management Board of St Gregory’s Catholic Academy seek to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic practising Catholic who embodies the mission of this Outstanding Academy with a firm commitment to Catholic education and the spiritual and moral well-being of our pupils, able to inspire, challenge and innovate, building on the school’s successes and traditions. 

As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a major role, sharing in the Academy’s leadership and future development. 

St Gregory’s is an oversubscribed, school with a strong sense of community in the parish of English Martyrs and SS Peter and Paul, Stockton. We maintain high standards and strong academic results through a child-centred approach which seeks to develop each person to his/her full potential. These high expectations, underpinned by our Catholic ethos shape the commitment and teamwork of the whole community.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, ambitious and through their vocation, will continue to move the Academy forward as part of a wider community within the Carmel Education Trust. 

We can offer extensive personal CPD and professional development through the Trust, the Carmel Teacher Training Partnership, Teaching School and Maths Hub as well as the opportunity to deliver CPD within the Academy and Trust - wide.

St Gregory’s is a mixed, non-selective, Roman Catholic primary school with nursery situated in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham. It is part of  Carmel Education Trust, a multi-academy trust which supports six other Christian academy schools in the UK and aims to provide a practical and moral purpose to the furthering of education. An average-sized primary school, St Gregory’s will provide a total of 266 places to students aged 3-11 when fully subscribed.

In March 2013, Carmel College converted to become a multi-academy trust under the name Carmel Education Trust; St Gregory’s opened as an academy converter in April.
