Job overview

As we embark on the next phase of our journey to ‘Outstanding’, we are looking for a hardworking, inspirational and visionary candidate to become one of three Deputy Headteachers to join our exceptional leadership team at an exciting point in the school’s development.

Roles and responsibilities will be decided after appointment, but the person appointed will be able to strongly demonstrate:

·        Strong teaching skills, with high levels of expertise in pedagogy, learning and teaching and/or strong, recent impact  in leading behaviour and inclusion

·        Extensive, relevant, successful experience at Assistant Headteacher level or higher

·        An unswerving belief in the power of education to change the lives of students from disadvantaged backgrounds

·        Has high aspirations of themselves and the staff/students

·        A strong impact in research informed practice

·        A relentless commitment to the pursuit of excellence and personal development

·        An understanding of and commitment to the importance of celebrating the diversity and furthering the personal growth of every individual.

The role would suit a visionary candidate with recent, relevant experience of impact in a secondary school with ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ status. In the first instance the role would be to either lead the development of teaching and learning or to lead the school’s behaviour, inclusion and pastoral strategy to ensure the progress and welfare of every pupil. Final roles and responsibilities will be finalised upon appointment and be based in the secondary school.

Our vision - At Eastbrook we believe that a truly outstanding school is one that enables all pupils to achieve their best. One where academic attainment is high, and the academic progress of individuals is maximised. It is a place where all pupils acquire the character virtues that lead to success in school and university, in work and life beyond.

Eastbrook School is on a journey. Our overriding ambition is to be an exceptional school; the school of choice for local parents and one which provides outstanding all –through provision for our students from nursery to post-16. We are looking for a senior leader who shares this relentless drive, with an uncompromising dedication to modelling high expectations and belief in our mission.

In return, you will find a happy school. An Eastbrook Student thinks for themselves and acts for others. They are inquiring, knowledgeable, caring and strive to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and mutual respect and tolerance of each other.
