If you are an excellent teacher who is inspirational and compassionate, and with a proven track record in raising students’ achievement, then we are keen for you to apply for the post of Deputy Headteacher at Westfield Academy.

We are an 11-16 co-educational school, in Somerset, serving the town of Yeovil and the surrounding villages.   The school, judged ‘Good’ by OFSTED, has a fully comprehensive in-take, and a good reputation that has been hard won over a number of years.

We recognise that the Academy has made significant progress in recent years. We also know that academic progress for students is not yet good enough. Your role will be to build on what is already successful so that students show more endeavour, teachers can expect more from them and the community has confidence in our academic standards as well as our pastoral care.

Student numbers are set to grow significantly over the next five years and the National Funding Formula will in the future provide the new Deputy Headteacher with additional resources to help improve opportunities and outcomes for students.

We can offer you:

  • A committed and supportive leadership team
  • A range of career development opportunities including NPQH if appropriate
  • A stable and caring school community that is ready to take the next steps in its development
  • A school that is financially stable and well-managed
  • An opportunity to live and work in fantastic part of the country.

Westfield Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, including the barred list, as well as other pre-appointment checks outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (September 2016).
