Required for start in January 2018

The Boswells School is looking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to develop our teaching and learning at the school.

You will be joining a successful school with strong leadership at all levels and a commitment to the professional development of staff. The successful candidate will be central to developing an approach that is centred on developing the highest quality teaching and learning and the academic attainment for our students. They will also be responsible for the continued development of our knowledge rich curriculum and our approach to assessment and feedback.

The Boswells School is an 11-18, very successful, popular and oversubscribed school in the Springfield area of Chelmsford, Essex. In 2017, 82% of all students achieved a Grade 4+ in English and 75% of students achieved a Grade 4+ in Mathematics. Both of these measures are significantly above the national averages for these subject areas, as was the percentage of students achieving a ‘strong pass’ (Grade 5+). We are also delighted that a number of students achieved Grade 9 in both of these subjects and that 43% of our students achieved the English Baccalaureate. Just under 30% of all GCSE grades awarded were at A*/A and 79% at A*-C grade. At A, Level 55% of all grades awarded were at A*-B, 84% of all grades were at A*-C and 99% of all grades awarded were pass grades. Our BTEC Level 3 results were also outstanding with no student achieving less than a ‘Distinction’ grade. Whilst we are very proud of our academic achievement, we know we still have work to do, and the successful candidate will play a central role in helping us achieve this.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The appointment will be subject to an enhanced CRB check. Application forms are available from Ms Georgina Travers, on or 01245 264451.

Closing date for applications is 9 am on Monday 16th October 2017. Interviews will take place on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th October 2017.
