Job overview
Queensway Special School is an academy, part of the Learning Community Trust that provides a superb education for just over 100 young people with Education Health Care Plans who require specialist provision. Queensway operates on two sites, Queensway North (specialising in supporting Autism) and Queensway South.
Queensway South is a specialist provision for young people with a Social, Emotional and Mental Health diagnosis. The school is situated in Dawley, Telford (about 20 minutes from our North site) and provides a nurturing, supportive environment that meets the needs of our individual learners.
Currently, at South, we have 54 students (Y5-Y11) on roll who are taught by a team of specialist teachers and support staff. Students are in small classes of 6/8 students to support their learning and the model is of a teacher plus at least one teaching assistant in each class. The majority of our students are entered for GCSE and Vocational qualifications in Y11.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Headteacher, based at our South site but working across Queensway, to lead on the key areas of Teaching and Learning, Standards, examinations and the development of the curriculum. The successful candidate will work with key staff on our North site to ensure consistency and share good practice.
Experience of teaching children with SEMH would be an advantage but not essential. We will provide training and support to develop your practise.
