Job overview

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a thriving Trust with an outstanding record of achievement and staff development?

Due to the promotion of the existing postholder, The Castle Partnership Trust is seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher from January 2019 at Court Fields School. We will give you opportunities to develop leadership and management, to work with some of the best teachers in the country and to learn leadership from some of the best in the profession.

The schools within our Trust are friendly and welcoming and our parents and students are always very appreciative of what staff do for them. Our belief is that every child should Achieve, Belong and Participate, and that staff should be supported to fulfil their potential and aspirations, whatever those might be. We are looking for a new Deputy Head to provide the strategic lead ensuring exemplary Academic Progress and Achievement in Court Fields. The details of the role will be discussed with you so that we strengthen what you are already good at and give you opportunities to develop in preparation for Headship if that is what you wish.

The Trust comprises two secondary schools and a growing number of primary schools, as well as a successful and thriving Teaching School, Affinity Teaching School Alliance.

Court Fields joined the Trust in January 2014 and both the RSC and HMI have recognised the very effective work of the Headteacher, supported by the trust to secure improvement in the school. Already Court Fields is the most improved school in Somerset and the hard work is reaping rewards with this progress recognised by the HMI report in January of last year. We are looking for someone who is resilient, relentlessly optimistic, purposeful and with a great sense of humour to help lead the school in consolidating its next judgment which will be ‘Good’.

At The Castle Partnership Trust we are fortunate to have students who are motivated and enthusiastic about learning and taking part in the huge range of enrichment on offer.

We are looking for candidates with a proven record of impact and success in achieving progress for students as well as strategic vision and commitment. The successful candidates will also have an understanding of the wider role of the school in the community and excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, capable of leading staff through change that will benefit learners.

For application packs, details of the interview process and more information about The Castle Partnership Trust, please visit www.castleschool.co.uk or http://www.courtfields.net/.

The closing date for applications is 9 am on Monday 8 October 2018 with interviews due to be held on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 October 2018. The programme for interviews is available on the school website as well as details of opportunities to visit the school.

The Castle Partnership Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all who work here to share this commitment. The successful candidates will be subject to enhanced DBS disclosures.

At Court Fields School we are very proud of our school and our students. Together with our staff, Governors and our wider community in Wellington, we are working to provide the very best education for our children, both academically and pastorally. Our students’ achievements include performing at the highest levels in Sport and the Arts, developing wider skills via the National Citizenship Service and Duke of Edinburgh Awards, competing in national challenges in Maths and Science, to name just a few.

Our aim is for every child to achieve, belong and participate and this is at the heart of everything we do at Court Fields School. We believe in the absolute moral responsibility we have for equipping students with the best possible exam results. We know that this opens doors for students and prepares them with outstanding attitudes and a strong moral foundation.

We are ambitious for our students and our school. We have high standards and our students reflect our expectations. Our improvement, particularly over the last eighteen months, has been noted by our students, staff, parents, community and Ofsted. Visitors to our school recognise a significant shift in culture, with a clarity of purpose and focus on high quality teaching, excellent behaviour and wellbeing . We will be relentless in ensuring that this progress continues.

Court Fields School is an academy and part of The Castle Partnership Trust. We work closely in collaboration with schools in this partnership to share excellent practice and ensure the best outcomes for the children in our care. We develop young people with outstanding attitudes and integrity, and prepare them well for life in an ever-changing world.

Our aims are simple. We want every child at Court Fields School to achieve their potential, participate in the school and the wider community, and enjoy a strong sense of belonging. Our foundations for this are high quality teaching and learning, a broad and balanced curriculum, and a safe environment. We support all of our students to be ambitious, and have a positive attitude towards every aspect of their school life. We are proud of our students. Our values demonstrate a commitment to developing them as individuals, leaders, team players and advocates for those who need support.

Court Fields School converted to an academy in January 2014 and is part of The Castle Partnership Trust. We teach nearly 800 students aged 11-16 at our campus in the Somerset town of Wellington.
