Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational school leader who is passionate about special educational needs and driven in making a real difference to young people’s lives.

At Philpots Manor School, our aim is to provide a space for learning where children and young people thrive. We are always ambitious for our pupils and have high aspirations and expectations for them. As self-esteem and self-confidence builds, our pupils develop a “can do” attitude and learn to have high expectations of themselves.

The school promotes an ethos based on compassion and kindness, mutual respect, integrity, responsibility and resilience, creativity and innovation. We work hard to create a culture of kindness and respect within the school and staff work in partnership with parents and carers to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children and young people.

Philpots focuses on developing the key skills of literacy and numeracy to underpin a broad and dynamic curriculum. Our rural location and estate enable us to place a strong emphasis on outside learning, through subjects such as Horticulture, Forest School and Horse Riding and Equine Studies. We also deliver a range of active, practical and creative subjects such as Science, Personal Social and Emotional Education (PSHE), Physical Education, Art, Textiles, Ceramics, ICT, Food Technology and Drama. Pupils are encouraged and supported to achieve recognised and accredited qualifications in most subjects and our key focus is to maximise successful outcomes for each and every young person by the end of their placement with us.

We offer an outstanding sixth form education and experience, where the young people consolidate the skills they have learned, making them resourceful, resilient, and as independent as possible and equipping them for their journey into adulthood.

The OFSTED inspection in May 2019 received an overall rating of Good and sixth form provision was rated as Outstanding. We are proud of the achievements of pupils and the progress they make on their pathway to adulthood and we celebrate these achievements frequently and with enthusiasm.

If you believe you have the expertise, experience and passion to lead and motivate pupils and staff and are able to work in collaboration with other senior managers to ensure the School's continued development and success then we would love to hear from you.
