Job overview
Bohunt Wokingham is seeking to recruit an exceptional leader, who shares our ethos of ‘enjoy respect achieve’ to support the school in the next stage of its development. With the school expanding to include a Sixth Form from September 2026, we are excited to invite applications for this key leadership role at our growing school.
Bohunt Wokingham opened in 2016 and is now an oversubscribed, 1280 student academy, part of the highly successful Bohunt Education Trust partnership. Positioned in the south of Wokingham, the school is a rewarding place to work, with fantastic students and staff. We have high aspirations for the students in our community and commit wholeheartedly to providing an unparalleled student experience.
Our vision and values drive everything that we do, so we are looking for someone who aligns with our approach. This will be a new position in the senior leadership team due to the growth and popularity of the school, therefore the roles and responsibilities of the successful candidate will be shaped around the strengths, abilities and passions of the collective leadership team. However, a passion for learning and teaching and experience of whole school leadership of this area would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will take on responsibility for the day-to-day management of the school alongside the Headteacher and senior leadership colleagues, maintaining the highest standards in all aspects of our school culture. This role will work closely with other teachers and leaders in the Bohunt Wokingham team and the wider Bohunt Education Trust network to secure excellent outcomes for our young people.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Headteacher or current Deputy Headteacher to work in our exceptional school and within the high performing Bohunt Education Trust. This role would suit someone who has ambitions to be a Headteacher in the future and who is eager to have impact in all aspects of school leadership.
You will:
- Have absolute conviction that outcomes change children’s lives
- Have a fierce ambition for the children we serve
- Inspire and sustain the culture of the school and Trust
- Contribute visionary direction
- Work innovatively and strategically
- Collaborate with generosity
- Welcome accountability and candour
- Exemplify relational practice, championing inclusivity and embracing difference
Jen Comber, our Headteacher, actively encourages applicants to visit the school and will be available to speak to potential candidates about this exciting opportunity. To arrange this, please contact Melissa Corby (PA to Headteacher) - headspa@bohuntwokingham.com
Bohunt Wokingham is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to enhanced DBS checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Our vision is that the highest expectations, an ethos of ‘enjoy, respect, achieve’, unparalleled opportunity and highly effective teaching combine to develop students who are ‘game-changers’.
Would you like to be part of a school that empowers its students to be game-changers? This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an ambitious and imaginative candidate to join us in our stunning learning environment.
Our ethos of ‘enjoy respect achieve’ underpins everything that we do. We give students unparalleled opportunities through an outstanding curriculum offer which is enriched by an extensive co-curricular programme. All students make excellent progress with their academic studies at our school, with staff building strong relationships and knowing every child as an individual. In 2024 our year 11 cohort achieved the school’s best ever progress score with an above average score 0.44 and 84% of students achieved Basics at grade 4.
This is balanced with wellbeing and pastoral support which secures exceptional personal development. We are leaders in outdoor education with an outdoor classroom, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme running for all students and regular Big Expeditions to wilderness locations running alongside a variety of other trips at home and abroad. These core values help our students flourish throughout their school career, and on into later life.
We have exceptionally high expectations of learners and our staff are free to teach in a disruption free environment where students focus on learning and show very positive attitudes. Staff are extremely proud of the school and appreciate its focus on collaboration, equality and supporting workload. Staff also benefit from high-quality progressional development, with many choosing to continue their career progression within our school.
The school opened its doors to Year 7 pupils in 2016. Our new site has been designed and built with education at the forefront and includes specialist teaching spaces and a whole school one to one iPad provision. Having grown substantially since then, we are now a heavily oversubscribed school, with 1280 students on roll. In September 2026, we will be expanding further to include a 300-student sixth form, allowing us to see our students through to 18. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play an active part of the development of the school as it grows, with rich opportunities for professional and career development both within the school and across the wider Academy Trust.
We are part of the supportive and innovative Bohunt Education Trust, a MAT with nine secondary schools. We may be separated geographically, however, all BET schools share the same vision and values. We believe as a trust, we are stronger together. We believe that children and adults should enjoy learning and life in school. WE believe that response of self and others, and doing the right thing, are fundamental to schools and in bettering society. We believe every child should have the same chance to achieve; so that they have a life of choice and opportunity.
Potential candidates are always welcome to visit the school to discuss the role and gain a sense of our educational ethos and culture.
