We have a brand new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Early Years Teacher to join our recently opened nursery as Deputy Nursery Manager. As the country’s first completely free nursery, this is a unique and rare opportunity for a qualified practitioner and aspiring leader to be a part of a truly innovative hub, and the chance to help create an inspiring new learning environment. We are interested to hear from qualified teachers (QTS) who have gained experience in an early years (EYFS) setting, or qualified practitioners currently in an equivalent or similar role at a nursery. We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual who poses the knowledge and leadership qualities we are looking for.

Harris Nursery Hub Peckham is England’s first completely free nursery and a pioneering new venture in partnership with Urban Exposure Philanthropy. Our nursery hub provides a learning environment that inspires all children to succeed, and is a bespoke nursery provision which has been designed to help parents who are working, studying full-time, or seeking full time employment by providing them with high quality and fully funded nursery education.

The Nursery Hub team will be responsible for creating the best possible learning experience for children in a loving and friendly atmosphere as well as delivering outstanding and inspirational early years provision.  The successful applicant will provide support to the Nursery Manager and take responsibility for the operational day to day management of the Nursery to ensure staff are effectively deployed and required ratios are adhered to and to deal with any safeguarding or child protection issues.

About Harris Nursery Hub Peckham

Harris Nursery Hub Peckham provides education and care for 2 to 4 year old children within a beautifully converted building at Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park. The nursery, which will operate independently from the Academy, will be open from 7.30 am to 6.30 pm for 51 weeks per year, and staff will be able to take full advantage of the newly designed classrooms set across two floors, dedicated sensory room superb all-weather garden area and fully equipped nursery kitchen. Located within the heart of the community we offer high quality teaching and learning experiences for children. With the support of our sponsors we can off free full time places for 2-4 year olds, 51 weeks a year 5 days a week.

What we are looking for:

We are interested to hear from experienced early years teachers and leaders looking for an exciting new opportunity.

  • An experienced qualified teacher who has excellent subject knowledge of the Early Years and experience working in an EYFS setting managing staff;
  • A committed practitioner and leader, who will want to attain the highest standards in teaching and learning and has high expectations of staff and children;
  • A collaborative and motivated individual who will support the nursery through a variety of innovative approaches including curriculum design, teaching strategies, use of technology and intervention programmes;

School summary

Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park opened in September 2011 in the heart of Peckham. Children can start our Academy in the nursery when they are 3 years old and they leave after Year Six, when they are 11. Our Academy is an exciting place to learn and our pupils work hard and behave well. Our specialism is Literacy and Communication and we believe that learning to read, write and communicate effectively is extremely important. In 2011 97% of our children achieved a L4 in English at the end of Year 6. 100% of children made two national curriculum levels of progress in English.
