Job overview

Make your mark at our ground-breaking education centre

MacIntyre is an award-winning national charity supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and other needs in a variety of innovative ways.

In 2014, Westminster Kingsway College and Camden Borough Council commissioned MacIntyre to deliver local specialist provision for young people aged 16 to 25 who have severe and complex needs.

This new provision opened in September 2015 and is delivered all year round in a newly refurbished site in Camden. Alexandra Centre of Further Education provides up to 50 education places, together with short breaks residential support.

Our education places provide a wide range of opportunities that meet the needs and aspirations of young people. The curriculum focuses on health, employment, independent living and community inclusion. Learning is underpinned by specialist support. Programmes are flexible and individualised, focusing on what young people need to learn to support their transition from education to adulthood, and preparing them for what they want to do next. Most importantly, each learner will have a stimulating, meaningful and exciting time while in further education.

We are looking for an exceptional Deputy Principal to join our senior leadership team. You will work with the Principal to provide motivational leadership, sound management, and develop our vision, ethos, aims and direction of the Centre.

In addition to a recognised teaching qualification, you must:

  • Have experience of working with students with ASD/SLD/PMLD
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Have the confidence and skills to lead a successful team

The closing date for this position is 23 April 2017. The selection process will then take place and interviews will be arranged shortly afterwards.
