Job overview

The boutique school is in George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands and supports students Year 1- 9 who have a range of additional learning support needs including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyslexia, ADHD and students diagnosed with Autism.

The school approach to learning is threefold and consist of a hand-on student centered approach to the British National Curriculum, evidence-based intervention in literacy and numeracy, and a cognitive enhancement approach to address underlying cognitive functions, ultimately making learning more efficient. The bespoke approach to learning facilitates student growth in self-confidence and preparation to take on new challenges in school and life.

Working closely with the Director, and Senior Leadership Team, the Deputy Principal will:

• provides professional leadership and supports the Director in operational and academic matters and has a comprehensive understanding of the curriculum

• manage the school as an organisation

• be ambitious, and have a strong track record of leading and managing staff

• have experience of successfully supporting school improvement and impactful change

• be an exceptional classroom practitioner, with expertise in SEND and SEMH

• have a strong commitment to raising standards and improving the quality of teaching and learning

• manage and conduct learner assessments

• be financially astute and able to demonstrate value for money

• have a full understanding of processes involving children in care, child protection and safeguarding and be committed to working in partnerships

• be collegiate, responsive, highly approachable and can inspire colleagues, students and their families

• manage and conduct learner assessments

• be fully committed to developing effective independence for students beyond school

The Deputy Principal role is broken down into key areas including:

1. General management of school organization

2. Curriculum and improvement in teaching and learning

3. Data for school improvements

4. Community Relationships

5. HR responsibilities

6. Financial responsibility


The salary range for the Deputy Principal is CI $55,000- $60,000 per annum (approx. £52- £57K) commensurate with experience. Other benefits include medical insurance and contribution to a pension plan.
