Job overview

The Forum School in North Dorset is an ambitious and progressive independent residential school for young people aged 7– 19 with autism and accompanying difficulties. The school has capacity for 66 young people and is on a beautiful 28 acre site with excellent facilities which provide outstanding learning opportunities. The school has huge potential and is looking to appoint a new Deputy Principal (Head of Education) who shares their commitment to excellence and to enabling the young people to achieve their personal best, however it is defined by them or for them.

A new Principal took up post in April and they have exciting plans for the school and are committed to ensuring it is at the forefront of best practice in its field.  They are looking for a Deputy Principal, who shares their high expectations and passion, to work alongside them to drive the school forward. They will lead on all aspects of the education provision at the school, ensuring there is a shared determination across the team to consistently deliver best practice.

A committed staff team have responded positively to a challenging period and the school is now stable and ready to fly. The new Deputy Principal will harness that commitment and provide the creativity and innovation that will ensure the school is outward looking, embracing new ideas and leading new initiatives that will result in it consistently providing the highest standards of education. Previous experience in a residential setting is not essential but you must be ready to work closely with the registered manager to ensure education and care are closely aligned.

The school is part of Cambian Children’s Services whose vision is to be the leading provider of specialist children’s services within the UK by strengthening their offering and expanding their portfolio across the country. This is an exciting time to join Cambian as it grows and develops and they want senior leaders who share their ambition and commitment to excellence. Their commitment to enabling individuals to achieve their personal best applies equally to staff and you will receive comprehensive support to ensure you build your career and develop professionally.

If you have an outstanding track record as a senior or middle leader together with the determination to maximise the opportunities available then this role offers an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself in a new environment. Applicants must be confident and positive and committed to leading high quality teaching and learning and providing a comprehensive 24-hour curriculum that constantly evolves to meet the needs of students.  You will need a ‘can-do’ attitude that can inspire and engage students and staff and should have the creativity and vision to inspire and lead change but also the focus to ensure successful outcomes are reached. The role needs a compassionate and strong leader who can hold staff to account whilst being accountable yourself. Above all you will share the school’s passion and belief that students, their learning, their care and developing their potential is at the heart of all decisions.
