Job overview

Langley Park Primary Academy is now recruiting for a Deputy SENCo, joining us from September 2023. This is a great opportunity to be part of an expanding SEN department, developing and leading special needs provision and inclusive practice across the Academy. The overarching purpose of this role is to promote high quality teaching, effective use of resources, and high standards of learning and achievement for students with SEN. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, flexible, well organised and able to work as part of a team as well as having the ability to work alone when required. This role is ideal for candidates with QTS who are keen to progress within the SEN remit. Please note the successful candidate will be working in our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) alongside our Lead SRP Teacher and SENCO, predominantly based with Key Stage 2 children (3 days of the week is class based and the remaining 2 will be for SEN).

Key responsibilities, as outlined in the job description, include;

  • To assist the SENCo in leading the DSP provision for SEND within the Academy in the context of current legislation.
  • To manage resources for SEN students across the Academy to ensure that they are used efficiently, effectively, and safely.
  • To support the SENCo in managing the implementation of an inclusive curriculum for students in the DSP.
  • To work with the SENCo to develop, manage and maintain provision maps for students in the DSP.
  • To support the SENCo with the coordination of the daily LSA duties and timetables.
  • To support the SENCo with the development, implementation, and deliverance of intervention groups and support.
  • To deputise for the SENCo in non-statutory matters relating to SEN.

We are looking for something with:

  • Experience working with children with SEN is preferable.
  • A sound knowledge of the national curriculum and adaptive teaching is essential.
  • Strong behaviour management is also essential.
