Stamford Welland Academy have a rare and exciting opportunity to appoint a suitably experienced Deputy SENCO to assist in managing the provision for pupils identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN) from January 2022.

The successful applicant will promote the progress and achievement of SEND students throughout the academy. This role will be student-focused and will ensure high standards and expectations for both SEND students and staff.

This role will be based within our secondary school and the successful candidate will work in partnership with the SENDCo, line managed by the Vice Principal to shape and manage the academy’s SEN provision. Potential is as important as experience. We would fully support the successful candidate to undertake the National SENDCo accreditation.

They will have the ability to motivate, inspire and lead students to excel. The successful candidate will be a confident leader of staff to ensure our students with additional needs get the best learning experiences they can. It is vital to be a team player and have a willingness to ‘get stuck in’ to all aspects of academy life.

We are delighted to announce that following a recent Ofsted inspection in September 2021, the academy has been judged 'Good' in all areas. A copy of the report can be found  here.

Closing date for applications is 12 Noon on Friday 3rd December. Interviews will be held week commencing 6th December 2021.

Ofsted report

At our latest Ofsted inspection, we were judged as ‘Good’ in all areas. The report published in September 2021 heaped praise on our leadership team and followed our impressive Key Stage 4 results which were also the best results the school has ever recorded.

The inspectors said: “Leaders have done much to improve the school, including the quality of education. They have set high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and attitudes to learning. They have strengthened relationships with the local community. These improvements have led to more parents wanting to send their children here.

“Pupils study a broad range of subjects. In key stage 4, they are encouraged to study subjects that leaders believe will help pupils in the future. As a result, there has been a large increase in the number of pupils who study languages. Leaders make ambitious decisions about the curriculum which are in the best interests of the pupils. For example, they have changed how pupils study the different subjects in Years 7 and 8 to address previous underachievement at the end of key stage 4.”
