Farleigh School, near Andover, is a thriving co-educational Prep School, rated 'Excellent’ in all categories following a recent ISI inspection. We are committed to delivering the very best education to our 460 boarding and day pupils aged 3-13. The school is situated in 70 acres of beautiful parkland just off the A343 between Andover and Salisbury, and close to the A303.

The swimming pool plays an important part in the life of the school, not only for the pupils, but also the wider community, including external swimming schools.

Our experienced and long-standing Swimming Pool Manager is adjusting her working hours in the new year and as a result we wish to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and motivated individual, who is seeking to kickstart or continue a career in swimming pool management.

The successful candidate will support the Swimming Pool Manager in all aspects of running the facility, undertake all general lifeguarding duties, and deputise for them in their absence.

In keeping with a busy and thriving boarding school environment, the opportunity to get involved with other areas of the school, expand knowledge and enhance earnings potential exists for the right candidate, depending on their skills, experience, qualifications and areas of interest.

The successful candidate will:

·        Hold the relevant NPLQ

·        Have experience of working within a swimming pool environment

·        Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills

·        Have good customer service skills

·        Demonstrate a natural rapport with children

·        Will hold the Swim England Level 2 or equivalent, or be willing to undertake the relevant training to obtain the qualification

·        Be driven and motivated to contribute positively to the successful running of the pool

·        Be professional and courteous in their manner and approach to working with others

·        Be confident and comfortable with periods of working alone

·        Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to safeguarding.

Hours of work

The Deputy Swimming Pool Manager is a full-time position working an average of 40 hours per week all year round. The specific working pattern is on a shift and rota basis; in keeping with the nature of the Swimming Pool operating hours, the successful candidate will need to be able to work regular weekday evenings and weekends during the 34 weeks of term-time.

However, for the successful candidate there is flexibility to work fewer and more sociable hours during the 18 weeks of school holidays.

In return the successful candidate will receive a renumeration package which includes:

·        A full-time annual salary of up to £28,000 for 40 hours per week, paid monthly in equal instalments and dependent on skills and experience at time of appointment

·        Option of overtime and additional earnings

·        Membership of the support staff Life Assurance for 3 x annual salary

·        Free school meals during working hours in term-time

·        28 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
