At The Bulmershe School, we are very proud of our thriving Design and Technology department and the constant progress students are achieving. Our GCSE 3D Design, June 2021, results were in the top 25% of the country, which is a true reflection of the passion shared by our teachers and students.

In response to the incredible success of our students we aim to expand our department and further enrich our KS3 and KS4 learning journey. To support our dedicated students into successful design careers we have launched our A level 3D Design course, covering Architecture, Furniture and Product Design.

We are dedicated to ensuring our Design and Technology class sizes are manageable to actively support all of our students who represent a wide range of abilities. It is a priority to maintain a safe and desirable working environment for all.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference, in a school, which truly values the importance of creative subjects in the development of young people, and to be a part of a supportive and dedicated creative arts faculty.

What we are looking for:

·         A talented and enthusiastic teacher with the ability to inspire our students.

·         To be successful, you should have experience of teaching a range of Technology subjects across Key Stages 3 & 4. A level teaching is desirable.

·         Have the ability to raise student achievement and add value within the Design and Technology curriculum.

·         Excellent, up-to-date subject knowledge and a passion for teaching your subject is essential.

·         The confidence to teach the diverse disciplines of Design and Technology including Resistant Materials (3D Design) Graphics Communication and Food and Nutrition. Experience using CAD and CAM processes would be an advantage.

The Bulmershe School is a heavily oversubscribed school which sits at the heart of the Woodley community. We are a mixed, Corvus Learning Trust Academy school of 1,500 students aged between 11 and 18, who come from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

We take enormous pride in our caring reputation and anyone who joins our team should be committed to achieving high levels of responsibility, mutual respect and resilience within the safe and nurturing environment of our school community. 

The community school was established in 1964 and at present, has around 1,500 students on the roll with 250 pupils enrolled in our growing sixth form.

“Students make good progress overall. The standards they attain in English, mathematics, science and a range of other subjects are at, or above, the national average. The school is improving quickly. Teaching is good and sometimes outstanding. Lessons are well planned and paced so that students are engaged in their learning. Students’ behaviour, both in lessons and around the school, is very good. Students’ very positive attitudes to learning contribute to their good progress in lessons. The school is a harmonious community with good relationships between students and staff. Students feel very safe and the school promotes their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development well.”
