Abingdon School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and self-motivated technician to join our thriving Design & Technology Department.
The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of equipment and materials for lessons, provide support to teachers and students during practical tasks, maintain stock and undertake general administration tasks relevant to the department along with ensuring a safe working environment for both staff and pupils. They will also be required to setup and routinely maintain general workshop machinery and CNC equipment, and so experience of working within a well-equipped workshop is essential. ICT competency is essential and experience of 2d design desirable.
The successful candidate should be able to work with initiative, have proven practical skills, be well organised and have an awareness of health and safety issues. DATA health & safety certification or equivalent is desirable although training can be provided.
This role is to work 40 hours per week during term time (34 weeks) plus an additional two weeks during the school summer holidays, prior to the start of the academic year. Inset days are deemed working days. If a full-time role is desired there may be an opportunity to undertake additional responsibilities within the Abingdon Foundation during the school holidays.
