Design & Technology Technician

Do you have experience in using machinery found within a D&T workshop and would be willing to pass on your knowledge and experience to students who are learning these skills?

We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Technology Technician for our Design & Technology Department. The role will involve preparing resources, wall displays and materials for lessons with a focus on Product Design & Textiles.  The successful candidate will support the classroom teacher in lessons by assisting students with practical work and supporting project work for various Key Stages and examinations. You will be required to undertake a Health & Safety role for and maintenance of machinery for the department.

The post is within our Design & Technology Department where you will be joining a successful team who are dedicated to helping and supporting students to achieve their full potential in Technology during their time at West Coventry Academy.    

The successful applicant will be required to carry out general clerical duties such as data input, filing, processing of orders and stock maintenance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. A willingness to undertake training as required for the role is important.  

Criteria for Appointment: Minimum GCSE ‘C’ or equivalent in Maths & English. Experience using the laser cutter and ability to use relevant software. Experience of working with wood cutting machines and lathes. The ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
