An opportunity has arisen for a suitably skilled and experienced applicant to join the school as a Design and Technology Technician, to primarily support the teaching of DT. On occasion, the post-holder may be required to assist in other areas of the department, such as Food.
The post-holder will maintain the departmental tools and equipment and the teaching and stock rooms. They will ensure that these areas are safe, clean and orderly environments in which teaching can take place most effectively, with support provided during lessons for the teaching staff and students.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and time management skills. They will be able to set up equipment and materials efficiently within a set timeframe. They will need to possess, or acquire (with help from the school) the required level of knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety legislation and Risk Assessment. They will be environmentally aware, maintaining the ethos of the department through the policy of reducing, reusing and recycling. Previous experience would be advantageous, however, training can be provided as necessary.
The appointed candidate will start as soon as possible on the completion of all necessary pre-appointment checks.
The working hours will be between 15 and 20 hours per week, to be worked over up to five days per week during the term time. Exact working hours can be discussed at interview stage and will be agreed on appointment.
The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.
