(Part Time, Term Time in region of 16 hrs a week)
Holmewood House is a highly successful I.A.P.S. co-educational day and boarding preparatory school of 440+ pupils, set amidst the beautiful Kent countryside, at Langton Green close to Tunbridge Wells.
We are looking for a technician to assist the Head of Department in providing pupils with an engaging and effective Design & Technology education to ensure the highest levels of achievement. Salary will be discussed at interview and depend on experience and hours worked.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Workshop Machine Checks and Daily/Lesson Preparation:
· Support Head of Department in the delivery of safe and fun Design Technology in Holmewood House School
· Ensure the workshop is tidy and the equipment is in good order
· Bandsaw, Pillar Drills, Electric Sanders, Fretsaws and Morticer -
– Check correct set-up for safe use and change blades/parts as needed
· Laser cutter – Lens cleaning
· 3D Printers vacuuming and cleaning as needed
· Preparation and organisation of hand tools and power hand tools
· Check any other additional hand tools/accessories/consumables in accordance with good workshop practice
Additional Duties:
· Preparation of materials for particular projects and use of circular table saw and/or Thicknesser and Planer
· Keep a check on stock and notify Head of Department when running low
· Maintenance of rooms in accordance with school policy/school maintenance procedures
· Be jointly responsible with Head of Department for Health and Safety including risk assessments COSHH and common sense
Key attributes:
· Practical/hands-on experience is desirable
· Ability to show initiative and to prioritise one’s own work and that of others
· Ability to work as part of a team and individually
· Self-motivating with the ability to multi task
· Confident in the use of ICT
