About the role

Do you have the skills and experience to further improve our faculty?

An exciting post of Design and Technology Technician has become available at Thrybergh Academy.

We have a superb set of facilities that allow us to teach a hugely diverse range of subject areas in the Design and Technology Faculty.

Any prospective technician would need to have a good knowledge of the standard machines we use within the teaching classrooms or be willing to undertake separate bespoke training that will help the candidate to fulfil their role.

Technical staff have responsibility in the faculty to work with the Faculty Leader and the Heads of Department to support the planning and delivery of the specific subjects mentioned above. You will be responsible for the upkeep and repair / daily maintenance of the machines and resources, as well as completing weekly Health and Safety checks. The faculty has a vast array of materials and resources which the technician would upkeep as well as ordering and monitoring stock levels, along with the purchasing of new materials. Good IT skills are essential to the role.

You must have a strong desire to work with pupils of all abilities and to make a difference. There is an expectation that you will work with small cohorts of pupils and help them to develop the skills required to pass their respective courses on a regular basis. Excellent time keeping skills and a friendly, supportive nature are essential to the role, as is working closely with the teaching staff.

As well as working directly within the faculty supporting teaching and learning, you will also have a role in whole school maintenance as and when required. This work is managed through the Head of Faculty and Senior Leaders in the school. As you can see the role is vast and is pivotal to the faculty continuing to grow and stay at the top of its game.

Having specific Health and Safety and machine usage training for wood and metal related machinery would be desirable, but can be completed later if you are successful with your application.
