We wish to appoint a talented and creative individual to join our successful Design & Technology Department to support in Product Design, Food and Textiles.

The successful candidate will work in the D&T Department to support teachers with the preparation and creation of resources, including displays. Preparation of a wide range of materials, ingredients and equipment/tools for use by teachers and students in the classroom/workshops – including the procurement of materials, food and textiles, to include cleaning and laundry regimes etc.

The ideal candidate for this crucial support role will value being part of a team, be solution focused and adaptable as well as able to find workarounds where there are obstacles, especially important in current times. Their can do attitude will stem from their ability to work independently and intuitively once settled in, identifying operational tasks which will support the smooth running of the department enabling teachers to provide outstanding learning opportunities for our students.

Sample tasks include stock audits, processing all orders and deliveries, maintaining and cleaning machinery and equipment such as band saws and laser cutters, changing extraction filters, maintaining overlockers, sewing machines, heat presses and digital printers, cleaning and quarantining regimes including oven and fridge deep cleans, laundry of all Food room textiles, to include student and staff PPE in all areas. Preparation of materials for Textiles and Product design will require the candidate to be a confident user of the laser cutter and its supporting software, 2D Design.

Full induction and support will be provided including completion of Level 2 Food & Hygiene and First Aid certification.

Hours:                       30 hours a week, 40 weeks a year (term time only + 5 Inset Days + 5 days during school closure periods)

We have a long history of providing exceptional education to young people.  We were founded in 1880 as Prendergast Grammar School for Girls on a site in Catford provided by the Leathersellers’ Company, which then funded the school’s move to its current site in 1995.

We are now part of the Leathersellers’ Federation of schools, a group of three secondary and two primary schools as well as Prendergast 6th Form.  We are very fortunate to be part of the Federation and receive a lot of support from the Leathersellers’ Company, that helps our students succeed.

We are very proud of our last Ofsted judgement of Outstanding in all areas, our third Outstanding judgement in a row. We are described in the most recent report as ‘exceptional’ and having ‘exemplary attitudes to learning’ across the school.
