An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Design and Technology Department at Maiden Erlegh School in Reading.

We are a small and forward-looking department that encourages all learners to succeed in this subject. Our students are enthusiastic and enjoy working on a range of projects. We have won National Design Awards and Engineering Scholarships and encourage all students to solve problems through creativity. We pride ourselves on promoting extra-curricular activities.

Whilst the role of the technician is to work closely with the Head of Department, the work is varied and there are opportunities to advance and develop and be more teacher focused. The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience of working in an education setting is desirable. Experience in working with related tools and equipment would be advantageous, but training can be provided for the right candidate.

You would be co-ordinating the use of the practical resources and facilities within the Design Technology department in support of the curriculum. You would be expected to support teachers in delivering effective lessons. We have a well-equipped workshop and a computer suite with laser cutter and 3D printers.

You should be able to communicate effectively, with the ability to work well alongside pupils and teaching staff, working collaboratively across the entire school.

About Maiden Erlegh School in Reading

In January 2014, a bid from Maiden Erlegh Trust to the Department for Education to open a new school in the East Reading area was successful. The central proposition of the bid was to open a new school that shared the ethos, culture and values of the well-established Maiden Erlegh School in Earley, Reading, Berkshire.

We proudly opened Maiden Erlegh School in Reading to its first Year 7 students in September 2015.
