Job overview

Do you want to join a team that believe every child deserves the chance to succeed and will work hard to make sure that happens? Do you want to join a school that is rapidly improving and is focused on securing excellence for all of our students and staff?

The Bridge Academy is the most improved secondary school in Hackney with progress in the top 10% nationally. We are looking for passionate and committed, highly skilled individuals to join our team, as we work towards achieving our mission: to ensure that all our students will go on to university or a high quality equivalent, thrive in their chosen field and live a great life.

Our award winning building is outstanding, with state of the art facilities for our students and staff and the local community. We value our staff and know how important their well-being is and we offer a professionally stimulating and supportive working environment

We are currently seeking a Design and Technology Technician, to provide the highest standards of technical support and day to day assistance to our Design Technology team. The role is integral to the effective operation of the department, and so in order to ensure that the new post-holder is fully supported in this role, additional training shall be provided where necessary (in areas such Health & Safety and tool maintenance, etc.)

If you are up for the challenge, then we would love to hear from you.

Our sponsors UBS provide significant support to the Academy, and we also work with a wide variety of community groups to ensure the best for all our students. Our award winning building is outstanding and is based at our stunning canal-side location, just minutes from Haggerston Station and just over a mile from the heart of the City of London.

To apply for this position, please complete the online application. We are a highly diverse school and encourage applicants from all sectors of the community to apply.

The deadline for applications is: 9:00am on Friday 16th March 2018. We look forward to receiving your application.

The Bridge Academy is committed to safeguarding children and all appointments will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and references.

The Bridge Academy opened in September 2007. We educate 900 students in Years 7-11, and our Sixth Form caters for 250 students in Year 12 – 13. Our specialist subjects, Music and Mathematics, sit alongside a broad and rich curriculum; the school timetable has been designed to ensure that there is room for special projects and enrichment and club activities, working with some of the most prestigious organisations in London. Our sponsors UBS, a leading global financial services firm have led the establishment of our school from the onset and they continue to significantly support us.

We are a school with a simple mission: to ensure that when students leave the Academy every one of them can go on to University or a high quality equivalent, thrive in their chosen field and live a great life. In this way, The Bridge Academy truly is ‘A Bridge to their future’.

We are determined that every child who attends The Bridge Academy has the chance to develop their talents and abilities to the fullest in a culture of respect and exemplary behaviour. We have a first-class team, and learning and teaching is stimulating, exciting and enjoyable.

A lot of time has been invested into working in partnership with local primary schools to create the best possible experience for students moving on to secondary school. It means that our students have had the chance to get to know The Bridge Academy team before they arrive and the team is able to establish links with their parents as part of this. By understanding every child individually, The Bridge Academy ensures that every student receives the highest standard of teaching and support.

Our Academy is an academic, inclusive and inspirational environment where innovative thinking and creativity are encouraged and aspirations are raised. We have unlimited aspirations and a belief that anything is possible, and for this reason we are a centre of excellence for learning.
