We seek to appoint a dynamic and innovative Design Technology teacher, ideally with an engineering background, or at least an active interest in mechatronics to join the team in our Technology and Arts Department.
The position of Head of Department may be available.
We have a very active innovation programme underway at school. As an example, last year our Year 9 students built four solar powered go karts and established an unofficial speed Malaysian speed record. This year students are investigating how they can improve the efficiency of their designs with a view to setting new speed and distance records.
We are looking for inventors, mad scientists and people who think outside the usual curriculum to join our team and help us drive our innovation initiatives. We don’t want to be a ‘me too’ school that simply replicates what every other school is doing. We want to be at the forefront of innovation in learning, and involve our students in authentic, real life project based inquiries within the realm of engineering and technology.
Familiarity with, or a clear ability to work within a British Curriculum framework is needed, as is the ability to work in an environment where English is the medium of instruction. A minimum of three years of teaching experience and qualified teacher status (QTS) is required.

Our school
The HELP International School is at the forefront of holistic education for 3 to 18-year olds in Malaysia. Entering its tenth year of operation, it has enjoyed phenomenal growth with 1300 students on its roll. The school is now entering a new and exciting phase of its development as it implements its new strategic plan, supported by further investment in buildings and resources.
A recent consultation with staff highlighted the levels of collegiality and professional support amongst staff as a particular strength of the school, as its commitment to on-going professional development of all team members. Our host country, Malaysia is an amazing place to live and work in. A number of our staff are now into their fourth or fifth year of working at our school.
Remuneration package
The appointment commences from in August 2022. The remuneration package offers a competitive salary, and includes housing allowance, medical insurance, annual flights, Apple Macbook Air laptop, education for dependent children, and other benefits.

Founded in 2014, HIS is the fastest-growing private school in Malaysia and has received the 5-Star SKIPS (Malaysia Private Education Institution Quality System) rating from the Ministry of Education.

The Schools Curriculum
HIS uses the National Curriculum of England as the key guide for its programmes of study. The school offers Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level programmes in the upper secondary years. For admissions, students applying for a place in the school are subjected to CAT4 assessment with an English proficiency test as a written component. The academic progression assessment is supported by year group CAT4 testing in Years 3, 6, and 9 and GL Progress Tests from Years 4 to 9.
HIS is also an inclusive school with a Special Education Needs offering: 10% capped seats in each year group to support students with special learning needs.
