Job overview

Would you like the opportunity to work as part of a team of highly experienced and ambitious colleagues?

We are looking for an experienced safeguarding professional to join our Safeguarding Team in the role of Deputy DSL in September 2023 and to find out how we do things at Graveney from the DSL, who will be moving into a different role in September 2024. From 2024, you will take over the full Lead DSL role as part of our Extended Senior Leadership Team. This full-time role would suit teaching or non-teaching safeguarding professionals.

The role will involve an initial year of supporting the DSL and then leading the school’s Safeguarding, Mental Health and Attendance provision the following year. You will need to have a strong background in safeguarding, as well as experience of leading teams of staff working across a range of disciplines, including child protection, attendance, counselling services and staff and student welfare. This role is a unique and invaluable opportunity to gain an insight into the school’s current processes and procedures, with time to fully embed into the Graveney School community before taking over as DSL in September 2024.

Our recent Ofsted inspection found safeguarding to be a strength of the school. This is an excellent opportunity for a safeguarding professional, who may already be working at the DSL level, to join our very large, diverse and vibrant school.

Graveney is an extremely popular and successful 11–18 School situated in Tooting, SW17 on a pleasant site with excellent facilities. We have a commitment to providing the best opportunities to all students and to developing the professional skills and career opportunities of staff.
