About the Role

As a Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, including online safety across the academy and manage the academy’s Child Protection Online Management System (CPOMS).

You will take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings and contribute to the assessment of children and young people. You will advise and support other members of staff on child welfare and child protection and liaise with other relevant agencies, such as the local authority and the police. You will ensure that the academy’s work in safeguarding children and young people is of the highest quality by making sure all policies, protocols and staff training are relevant and up to date.

You will be responsible for managing referrals to the local authority children’s social care and where applicable to the Disclosure and Barring Service. Work collaboratively with the Trust DSL and other DSL colleagues across the Trust. Keep detailed, accurate and secure written records of concerns and referrals

About You

The successful candidate will have experience of being a member of, or associated to, the Senior Leadership Team in an educational setting along with significant experience of working with vulnerable children and young people. Candidates will also have sufficient safeguarding training at an appropriate level relevant to the responsibilities to the role with a commitment to further training and development. The successful candidate will be able to write action plans for children and young people, maintain accurate records, create complex safeguarding reports and explain the principles involved in giving advice and guidance to children and young people.
